Public Comment Opportunity
Materials were posted to this page on April 23, 2026 and a press release went out on April 24. If you are not subscribed to receive these public notices, and would like to receive notification via email, please click HERE. Public comments will be accepted on the following topics through May 21, 2026, with the exception of Elk Hunting Access Agreements which will have its own comment period ending June 7.
There are two dedicated methods to submit public comment to the Fish and Wildlife Commission on meeting agenda topics PRIOR TO the meeting:
Each agenda item will have a survey at the bottom, below the linked documents, that is set up for submitting public comment. The survey also allows for letters or supporting documents to be attached.
Public comments can also be mailed to the Commission at the address below:
Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission
c/o FWP Liaison – Director’s Office
PO Box 200701
Helena MT, 59620-0701
These two options are the only ways to submit comment and/or documents to the Commission on any agenda item prior the meeting. Should you have any questions about this process, please contact the FWP Liaison to the Commission, Erik Wickman, at 406-594-8921.

All oral and written comments received through the MAPA process are included in the official record and will be provided to the Commission for its review, consideration, and action at the June 12 meeting. As this matter involves a MAPA rulemaking process, with its own written comment and public hearing process, no comments on this matter will be solicited by the Commission prior to the June 12 meeting.
Fisheries ARM Rules - Final Adoption
The commission may take action on all matters specifically noticed on any agenda.
Extensive opportunity is provided for public comment on hunting, fishing and trapping regulations. As a matter of equity for citizens who cannot attend commission meetings, when making final decisions on these regulations, the commission will not open public comment unless a significant amendment to the tentative proposal is brought forth by the commission or department. Comments will be limited to the amendment only. Time for comment may be limited at the Chair's discretion.
The department ensures its meetings are fully accessible to persons with disabilities. If special accomodations are needed, please contact:
