The northwest corner of Montana features pristine lakes and rivers and vast conifer forests spread across rolling topography and rugged mountains. This region is home to the most natural lakes in Montana – more than 500 – including the largest natural freshwater lake in the West, the 125,000-acre Flathead Lake. More than 3,000 miles of fishable stream flow through the region and provide critical habitat for populations of sensitive native fish species such as the westslope cutthroat trout, bull trout, and red-band rainbow trout.
