Public Comment Opportunity

PLEASE READ!

FWP uses an outside vendor for the surveys that compile public comments.  Without notifying its clients, the vendor has recently added an AI evaluation to their surveys that erroneously flags comments and mislabels them. 

There is no alteration, redaction, or removal of any public comments once they are submitted in the surveys.  FWP is working with the vendor to remove this inaccurate AI evaluation, and the erroneous flags, from all surveys going forward. 

Materials were posted to this page on August 26, 2026 and a press release will be sent out.  If you are not subscribed to receive these public notices, and would like to receive notification via email, please click HERE.  Public comments will be accepted on these topics through September 24, 2026. 

here are ONLY two dedicated methods to submit public comment to the Fish and Wildlife Commission on meeting agenda topics PRIOR TO the meeting:

1. Online Portal (SurveyMonkey)

Each agenda item will have a survey at the bottom, below the linked documents, that is set up for submitting public comment. The survey also allows for letters or supporting documents to be attached prior to submission.

2. Mail-in of Public Comments

Public comments can also be mailed to the Fish and Wildlife Commission at the address below:

These two options are the only ways to submit comment and/or documents to the Commission on any agenda item prior to the meeting.  Comments received after the deadline will be retained but will not be shared with the Commission or posted publicly.

Comment at meeting

Public comment opportunity will be offered during the meeting. In-person comments can be made at the meeting venue or at any FWP Regional Office throughout the state.

The time allotted for each comment may be limited at the discretion of the Commission Chair. 

Comments can also be made during the meeting virtually via Zoom.  Registration for Zoom comment will open on September 30 and will close at Noon 4:00 PM on October 13. 

*Please Note- 

The public comment period for items on the October 14th Commission meeting agenda has closed. However, following the recent posting of information related to the Hannah Ranch topic, the Commission is extending the public comment period for that topic only.

Written public comments regarding the Hannah Ranch topic were accepted through October 9 at 5 p.m.

This extension applies only to the Hannah Ranch item. Public comment on all other matters associated with the October 14 Commission meeting remains closed.

NOTE:

The commission may take action on all matters specifically noticed on any agenda. In doing so, the commission may accept, reject, or modify any actions recommended or proposed by the department on any action item. Individual commissioners are not required to propose any requested modifications or changes to a department recommendation prior to a meeting and may do so by requesting one or more amendments to the department’s recommended motion language at the time of the meeting. Commissioners may, however, submit a written proposal to the department for a modification to a department recommendation prior to a meeting. In those instances, the department will post the proposed change and the department’s response (if any) to the meeting agenda website for public review and comment.  Time for comment may be limited at the Chair's discretion.
