Starting March 1, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is accepting applications for limited hunting opportunities at the Foys Bend Fisheries Conservation Area (FCA) for the 2026 spring and fall seasons.
Foys Bend FCA is a 245-acre property managed by FWP and located in the lower valley off Steel Bridge Road.
Permission is required to hunt the property and is issued on a limited basis due to the size of the acreage.
The lottery system aims to offer equal opportunity and better manage access to Foys Bend FCA, which is open to limited hunting of all species during upland game bird season, archery season, general hunting season, and migratory bird season.
This property is also one of the sites where FWP releases pheasants each fall through the Roosters for Recruitment Program.
To maintain a high-quality experience, hunting at Foys Bend FCA is administered through a random drawing. Access is permitted four days a week on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Hunters may apply as individuals or as a party of up to four members.
Applications for the 2026 calendar year are divided into the following windows:
Spring Season (April 15 – May 31)
Application Period: March 1 – 31, 2026.
Fall/Winter Season (September 2026 – January 2027)
Drawings for the fall season are split into four distinct periods based on the desired month of hunting:
For September dates: Apply July 15 – August 15.
For October dates: Apply August 15 – September 15.
For November dates: Apply September 15 – October 15.
For December/January dates: Apply October 15 – November 15.
Applicants must provide their ALS number, vehicle description, and three preferred hunting dates. If a hunter's top three choices are unavailable, FWP will award the first available date remaining.
