Certain areas of the state are designated as Priority Sampling Areas where FWP is making a concerted effort to gather more samples. Priority Sampling Areas can fall into two groups 1) places where we have not yet detected CWD where we conduct surveillance and 2) places where CWD has been detected where we monitor to estimate the CWD prevalence. Especially in any Priority Sampling Areas, hunters are asked to voluntarily submit a sample from their animal.
