Boaters: Remember to “clean, drain, dry” this summer


The summer boating season in Montana has begun, and more than 24,000 watercraft have already been inspected at aquatic invasive species inspection stations around the state. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and partner organizations operate more than 30 watercraft inspections stations to ensure boats launching on Montana waters are free of aquatic invasive species like zebra and quagga mussels.

Bighorn River trout numbers lowest on record


Trout numbers in south central Montana’s Bighorn River are at record lows this spring, according to scientific surveys completed recently by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologists. The combined number of catchable-sized brown trout and rainbow trout in the river is the lowest seen by biologists since current survey methods began in 1992.

Beaverhead Recreation Working Group to host volunteer workday


The Beaverhead Recreation Working Group will host a volunteer workday on Saturday, July 13. Participants should meet at the DNRC parking lot, 840 N. Montana St., in Dillon at 9 a.m. Please bring water, gloves and a lunch.

Open houses scheduled for upper Missouri reservoirs plan


Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has scheduled three open houses to discuss the Upper Missouri River Reservoirs Fisheries Management Plan. The plan guides fisheries management on Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter reservoirs and the Missouri River below Toston and below Hauser Dam.
