    DROUGHT & FIRE

FWP urges hunters to check fire status, make safety a priority

With many parts of Montana suffering from emergency drought and wildfires, hunters and other recreationists taking to the field must be aware of local fire restrictions and take precautions.

The restrictions are in response to dry, warm weather that could increase the danger of human-caused wildfires. They will be in effect until further notice.

    BORN TO BE WILD

They're sure cute, but please leave baby animals alone

Each spring, FWP receives several calls from people who have picked up deer fawns or other wildlife.

Remember, ALL wildlife and their young should be left in the wild. If you see a young animal alone or injured, whether a deer, a goose or a grizzly, keep your distance. Animals often thrive without our intervention, and their odds of surviving in the wild are much greater if they are left alone.
