Birding basics walk

We are open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. We ask that if you are coming in with a group of 10 or more, you please let us know in advance!

World Migratory Bird Day: Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m.–1 p.m

World Migratory Bird Day festival is back at MT WILD! Join us for a celebration of birds with this free, family-friendly event. There is something for everyone to enjoy - guided bird walks, live raptor presentations, macroinvertebrate investigations, and crafts and activities for the whole family. No registration needed, just stop by!

Guided Bird Walk: Wednesday, May 7, 8-9:30 a.m.

Join experts from Montana WILD and Last Chance Audubon Society for a guided bird walk around Spring Meadow Lake. We will observe and identify many species. This walk and its content are geared toward adults. We will follow a flat, one-mile loop and will be out for around an hour and a half. Binoculars are available for use.

Discover eBird: Friday, May 9, 8:30-11 a.m.

Join staff from Last Chance Audubon for an engaging introduction to eBird, a global citizen science platform that helps birders record, share, and explore bird sightings from around the world. We will begin with a tutorial to get you started with the app, then head out on a guided bird survey around Spring Meadow Lake to put your new skills to use. Binoculars provided. Please bring a smartphone with the eBird app downloaded if available. Ages 12 and up, all experience levels welcome!

Wildlife Storytime: Tuesday, May 13, 3:30-4 p.m.

Are you ready for Spring? Have you planted any flowers? What flowers do butterflies like? How do butterflies grow? We'll be reading Waiting for Wings by Lois Ehlert and find out about the life cycle of butterflies with a fun craft to follow!

Life Jacket Donation Drive: May 19-23, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Please donate new or gently used life jackets during National Safe Boating Week! These life jackets will restock life jacket loaner stations in the community to promote and provide safe water recreation opportunities for everyone. To donate, bring your life jacket to MT WILD and drop off near the front desk.

Drop in Activities: All month!

All month, in addition to our wildlife quiz and scavenger hunt, we will have wildlife crafts and activities set up in our classroom. Drop by anytime M-F from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
