Birding basics walk

We are open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. We ask that if you are coming in with a group of 10 or more, you please let us know in advance!

Wildlife Storytime-Owls: Monday, August 4, 3:30-4:15 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to see an owl up close or learn about these mysterious night birds? Come celebrate International Owl Awareness Day with us during a special Wildlife Storytime, featuring the book To See an Owl by Matthew Cordell. After the story, enjoy owl-themed crafts in our classroom. This program is great for young learners ages 4-8 accompanied by their parents.

Guided Bird Walk: Wednesday, August 6, 8-9:30 a.m.

Join experts from Montana WILD and Last Chance Audubon Society for a guided bird walk around Spring Meadow Lake. We will observe and identify many species. This walk and its content are geared toward adults. We will follow a flat, one-mile loop and will be out for around an hour and a half. Montana WILD will provide binoculars or you can bring your own.

Family Fishing Night: August 20, 5-8 p.m.

Enjoy a summer evening with a line in the water at Spring Meadow Lake! Montana WILD staff will lead a short introduction and will provide bait and simple fishing tackle, then send you off to try on your own! Meet at the Montana WILD parking lot. No license needed for this event. No minimum age limit, but children need to be supervised by an adult at all times.

Bat Walk: Friday, August 29, 8:30-10 p.m.

Come and explore the fascinating world of bats! After a brief bat presentation in our auditorium, we will walk down to Spring Meadow Lake where participants will search for bats and use special equipment to hear their echolocation as they navigate and forage over the lake.

Drop in Activities: All month!

All month, in addition to our wildlife quiz and scavenger hunt, we will have wildlife crafts and activities set up in our classroom. Drop by anytime M-F from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
