SPA 124 City of Missoula Southbank restoration DN FWP-DN-FSH-124-R2-25-006

Apr 4, 2025 8:02 AM

The City of Missoula proposes to restore non-formal access sites on the southside of the Clark Fork River in Missoula.  Pedestrian traffic has damaged the bank and vegetation.  Restoration treatments will vary dependent by site but collectively will include revegetation, bank sloping, and use logs or soil lifts to hold the bank.  Fencing will be installed to protect the vegetation, riverbanks, and encourage access to the river at formal access sites.

Based on the environmental review provided in the Draft EA, and, to the greatest extent possible, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, FWP determined the proposed action (Alternative 2) will not have significant adverse impacts on the human environment and constitutes a reasonable and appropriate strategy to achieve identified objectives. Therefore, preparation of an environmental impact statement or EIS is unnecessary. The permit will allow the City of Missoula to restore damaged banks at informal sites and move access to safer, established sites that where erosion can be managed more effectively.

FWP hereby adopts the Draft EA as final and approves Alternative 2, the Proposed Action.
