Decision Notice - Fairview Road Bank Stabilization on SF McDonald Creek – Fergus County, MT

Sep 18, 2024 12:22 PM

Fergus County has applied for an SPA 124 Permit to place rock rip-rap along a portion of Fairview Road where South Fork McDonald Creek is eroding into and compromising the roadway. The streambank is an exposed vertical bank, measuring 8-15’ in height. The installation will slope the bank to ~1.5:1 and the rock will extend to the bankfull elevation with the upper portions filled and vegetated. Revegetation will also include borrowed willow transplants from the opposite streambank/riparian area. No fabric will be used with the project. The project is planned to occur in October 2024.

Based on the environmental review provided in the Draft EA, and, to the greatest extent possible, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, FWP determined the proposed action (Alternative 2), will not have significant adverse impacts on the human environment associated with the proposed action and constitutes a reasonable and appropriate strategy to achieve identified objectives. Therefore, preparation of an environmental impact statement or EIS is unnecessary. FWP hereby adopts the Draft EA as final and approves Alternative 2, the Proposed Action.
