SPA 124 Johnson Creek Culvert Replacement Decision Notice

Johnson Creek culvert, located on lower Johnson Creek on National Park Service Grant-Kohrs National Historic Site property near Deer Lodge, is in need of replacement.This project intends to remove a damage 24” culvert and upgrade it to a 48” culvert. The 24” culvert has partially failed and is causing flooding and rendering a road impassable.
Based on the environmental review provided in the draft checklist EA, and, to the greatest extent possible, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, FWP determined the proposed action (Alternative 2), will not have significant adverse impacts on the human environment associated with the proposed action and constitutes a reasonable and appropriate strategy to achieve identified objectives. Therefore, preparation of an environmental impact statement or EIS is unnecessary. The project will allow the National Park Service to replace and upgrade their culvert crossing on Johnson Creek.
FWP hereby adopts the draft EA as final and approves Alternative 2, the Proposed Action.
