Draft Checklist EA Lost River WMA Judith Fossils LLC Operating Plan Approval

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is proposing to approve an Operating Plan with Judith Fossils LLC to explore and extract paleontological resources on the Lost River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) over the course of the next 10 years.  The rights to paleontological and archeological resources on the WMA are held in private ownership, which have been assigned to Judith Fossils LLC by the owner.  FWP and Judith Fossils LLC have negotiated the terms of the Operating Plan to ensure approved activities do not result in unacceptable impacts to wildlife, vegetation, and public recreational use of the Lost River WMA and that any ground disturbing activities are adequately mitigated through reclamation following such activities.
