Quagle Creek Private Pond License Review FWP-CEA-FSH-R3-24-081

Dec 9, 2024 12:16 PM

A private landowner is applying for a Private Fish Pond License and proposes to stock Rainbow Trout in an unnamed private pond. The Pond is 0.8 surface acres and located on 17858 Rocky Mountain Road in Belgrade, Montana. This pond is located northeast of Belgrade about 6 miles east Dry Creek, which is a tributary to the East Gallatin River. Dry Creek and the East Gallatin River contain Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. The pond is fed from a groundwater well located at the site. The outlet consists of a screened Agri-Drain control structure. The intermittent discharge of the pond is directed towards an open field on the property. Rainbow Trout are not native to Dry Creek or the East Gallatin River but were legally stocked. Rainbow Trout could be removed from the pond via chemical treatments or through senescence.
