Lewis and Clark Caverns Trail Realignment Project FWP-DN-POR-R3-24-019
Apr 18, 2024 12:52 PM
This proposal is to realign the Greer Gulch Trail in Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. The purpose would be to remove a deteriorated bog bridge and reroute the trail about 50 yards in length to the adjacent hillside. The project would create a sustainable section of trail that would eliminate the need for a large, timber bridge structure that would need to be replaced cyclically, thus providing a more cost effective, long-term solution. Also in addition, the riparian stream area that the bridge occupied would be revegetated and the streamside habitat restored. Project work would be completed by a Montana Conservation Corps trail crew (supervised by an FWP project manager) and is anticipated to be completed by May 30, 2024.
