SPA 124 Permit Moose Creek bank stabilization – Meagher County, MT Decision Notice FWP-CEA-FSH-R4-24-030

Aug 14, 2024 4:39 PM

United States Forest Service has proposed stabilizing a 100 foot section of Moose Creek with rock and a large log. A large scour has developed on a sharp meander in the stream causing a built up tailout. The increased height of the tailout has enabled the steam to overflow the banks and the flood water is impacting the campground road. The scour is also contributing sediment to the stream.

Based on the environmental review provided in the Draft EA, and, to the greatest extent possible, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, FWP determined the proposed action (Alternative 2), will not have significant adverse impacts on the human environment associated with the proposed action and constitutes a reasonable and appropriate strategy to achieve identified objectives. Therefore, preparation of an environmental impact statement or EIS is unnecessary.

FWP hereby adopts the Draft EA as final and approves Alternative 2, in which FWP would issue the SPA 124 Permit with the applicable general and special conditions outlined in both the draft EA and issued permit.
