East Gallatin Stabilization – Springhill Road Decision Notice

Nov 16, 2023 10:07 AM

The City of Bozeman is proposing a bank stabilization project along the East Gallatin River 350 feet downstream of the Springhill Road crossing. The project site is a local fishing access that has high public use. The proposed project will stabilize about 80 feet of an eroding bank along the East Gallatin River. Stabilization will be accomplished by laying the near vertical bank back and using a buried cobble toe with woody debris incorporated throughout, which will be topped with a fabric encapsulated soil lift. The biodegradable fabric will supply short-term erosion protection for the upper bank with vegetation supplying the long-term protection. Construction is planned to be completed prior to spring runoff in 2024.
