Carter County Coyote Predation Control Draft Environmental Assessment
Mar 8, 2023 12:11 PM
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is proposing to provide Carter County and their County Predator Board with $26,400 to assist with their predator control efforts specific to coyotes during the spring of 2023. The proposed activity would allow the county to use the funds to temporarily increase aerial shooting of coyotes utilizing fixed-wing aircraft and trapping efforts to reduce the coyote population at a spatially finite scale, which would be timed around mule deer fawning dates with an intended result that could positively influence the mule deer population and fawn survival rates.
A draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared and is available for comment. Public comment is welcome and will be accepted in written or email format until 5:00 p.m. MST, April 8, 2023. Comments can be submitted to:
