Craig overflow parking decision notice

Jul 11, 2023 4:06 PM

On May 4, 2023, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) issued a draft Checklist Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Craig Fishing Access Site overflow parking lot. The overflow parking lot project is intended to alleviate parking issues at the Craig Fishing Access Site, where the number of vehicles often exceeds the parking capacity. The overflow lot would consist of a 2-acre gravel parking lot, providing 50 additional parking spaces. The overflow parking lot would be constructed on a parcel of land that Lewis and Clark County leases from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad company.

Based on the environmental review provided in the Draft EA, and in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies, FWP determined the proposed action will not have significant adverse impacts on the human environment associated with the proposed action and constitutes a reasonable and appropriate strategy to achieve identified objectives. Therefore, preparation of an EIS is unnecessary.

With this action, FWP hereby adopts the Draft EA as final and approves the Alternative 2, the proposed action.
