Chief Plenty Coups House and Store Foundation Repair and Preservation EA

Feb 3, 2023 2:02 PM

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks released a draft environmental assessment (EA) to repair and preserve two structures at Chief Plenty Coups State Park on the Crow Indian Reservation in Big Horn County. The park is a National Historic Landmark.

The proposed project would fully stabilize the foundations of the Chief’s House and Store, survey and repair log rot, replace all chinking and daubing, and repair windows and trim on both structures. The roof on the House would be fully replaced, and decking on the porch of the House would be replaced while maintaining its historic character.
