Makoshika State Park Pavilion - Environmental Assessment
Mar 2, 2021 4:55 PM
Currently, visitors are limited to day use areas for picnics and events in Makoshika State Park. A pavilion is located near Cains Campground that seats 100 people and there are two picnic tables outside of that pavilion. Above the switchback in the park there is one day use area at Cains Overlook with one picnic table. With a lack of day use areas, park users often utilize campsites, creating a user conflict with overnight visitors. The amphitheater has many events annually, but a group use area does not exist at that location. By providing a day use group area near the amphitheater user satisfaction and rental revenue could increase. In order to provide better day use facilities and to solve the user conflict, a donor has graciously providing $70,000 which will be matched with state funds to install a new pavilion above the switchback near to the amphitheater.
