Summer events at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park

GREAT FALLS – First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park near Ulm is holding several educational events this summer. Montana residents who pay the $9 state parks fee with their annual vehicle registration have no daily entrance fees to state parks. Nonresident vehicles are required to purchase a park entry pass for entry into the park.
Saturdays – Ranger-led Jump Talks - Each Saturday through Aug. 30, learn how the First Peoples drove bison over the cliffs in the park with weekly Jump Talks led by park staff. The weather-dependent Jump Talks begin at 1 p.m. at the upper visitor area and last about 30 minutes. The free programs will be offered every Saturday through August 30, and no advance registration is needed.
Thursdays June 19 and 26 – Junior Ranger Program - Youngsters can visit First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park to participate in the popular summer Junior Ranger programs on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
June classes include:
- June 19 – All about snakes
- June 26 – Short Horned Lizards
Classes are limited to 25 students, pre-registration is required, and parents or guardians must accompany their children for the class. Registrations for June will begin on June 1 and can be made by calling the park at 406-866-2217.
