Apr 4, 2025 2:33 PM

HELENA -- Montana schools have until May 31 to apply for Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ travel and lodging grants. These grants reimburse public schools for the cost of visiting Montana WILD, FWP’s Education Center in Helena. Montana WILD offers hands-on educational programming, including field trips, for kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Students learn about fish, mammals, macroinvertebrates, conservation, careers in wildlife, archery, birding, fishing, live birds of prey and more.

These grants cover the costs for lodging and transportation. The maximum award amount for an individual outlying school (50-plus miles from Helena) is $2,500. Only outlying schools that are more than 150 miles away from Helena can use that money for lodging. The maximum award amount for an individual local school (within 50 miles of Helena) is $500.

Successful applicants can use funds between August and May of the following school year.

These grants are not given to third-party vendors, such as hotels and bus companies.
