FWP seeking applicants for west-central Montana Citizen Advisory Committee

Aug 16, 2024 1:16 PM

Members needed from Upper Clark Fork, Blackfoot and Seeley Lake areas

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking applicants to fill volunteer positions on the west-central Montana (FWP Region 2) Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) specifically from the Upper Clark Fork, Blackfoot Valley and Seeley Lake areas.

FWP advertised for members earlier this summer but is underrepresented in these geographic areas in the applications received and so is putting out a second call for members. Applicants must live in the Upper Clark Fork (Anaconda, Deer Lodge, Philipsburg, Hall, Drummond area), Blackfoot Valley (such as Potomac, Helmville, Greenough, Ovando) or in or near the community of Seeley Lake. FWP welcomes applications from anyone with an interest in natural resource issues and outdoor recreation.

The CAC is a general advisory committee that provides input and feedback to FWP on diverse issues—from wildlife and fisheries management, to access, state parks, outdoor recreation, and law enforcement. The committee is designed to have a membership that represents a variety of west-central Montana communities and natural resource interests.

To apply, download an application online at fwp.mt.gov, or contact FWP at 406-542-5500.  Completed applications must be received by Monday, September 16. Each FWP region has a CAC.  Find out more: fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/commission-councils-committees.

The function of the CAC is to:

· Provide a forum for ongoing, two-way communication

· Help FWP identify emerging issues

· Provide advice and perspective on resource and management topics

· Assist FWP with creating ideas on regional and statewide issues

The panel of volunteers typically meets four to six evenings per year in Missoula.  Members serve two-year terms and can reapply when their terms expire.  Meals and travel expenses are provided.
