New agenda item added to August Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting

Aug 7, 2024 4:32 PM

Meeting location changed to Capitol building; date and time remain the same

HELENA

A new agenda item has been added to the Aug. 16 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting.

An amendment being carried by Commissioner Jeff Burrows would withdraw Chief Looking Glass Fishing Access Site (FAS) in Region 2 and Voyageurs Rest FAS in Region 5 from consideration to increase camping from seven to 14 nights in a 30-day period. The amendment would allow the seven-night camping limit in a 30-day period on camping to remain in place at these two FASes.

Regional recreation managers in Regions 2 and 5 had concerns that the increase in camping nights allowed would encourage tent camps and overstays to occur at these two urban FASes.

The commission will meet Aug. 16 in Room 317 at the Capitol. This is a change from the original location, which was Montana WILD. The meeting at the Capitol will begin at 8:30 a.m. A Zoom option will still be available.
