Fort Owen State Park closed for winter season beginning Nov. 1

STEVENSVILLE –Fort Owen State Park, in the Bitterroot Valley near Stevensville, will be closed for the winter season beginning Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, through February 29, 2024.

The seasonal closure includes all park lands, parking areas and buildings. The nearby John Owen Fishing Access Site is separate from the state park and remains open year-round.

The park, known for being the site of many firsts in Montana history and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, completed preservation work on its adobe structures in 2023, and visitors can expect new education displays at some point in the 2024 season.
