Rare chance at catchable rainbows in Hollecker, Gartside

MILES CITY – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks plans a one-time-only stocking of excess catchable rainbow trout into Hollecker Lake near Glendive and Gartside Reservoir near Sidney this fall.

The exact date is not yet known, but FWP anticipates that the stocking of these fish from the Miles City Hatchery will be completed before the end of October.

Fish size ranges from eight to 10 inches long. Approximately 800 fish will be stocked at Hollecker and 1,200 at Gartside. These fish will be hungry and aggressive feeders, and catchability should be good through the fall, winter and spring months. FWP encourages anglers to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
