Comment sought on Black Bridge FAS road project EA
MILES CITY – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is proposing to replace 700 feet of the access road at Black Bridge Fishing Access Site near Glendive that was significantly undercut by spring runoff from the adjacent Yellowstone River.
FWP is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment Checklist for the project.
Since the road was damaged, the entrance gate to Black Bridge FAS has been closed, and access has been limited to walk-in traffic. That restriction will remain in effect until repairs have been made. The project would permanently close the unsafe section of road and a new 700-foot section of road would be constructed to restore safe vehicular access to the upstream areas of the site. FWP proposes to design the work in October and complete construction by the end of the year.
The draft EA Checklist can be viewed on the FWP website at https://fwp.mt.gov/news/public-notices or is available upon request from the FWP Region 7 office, (406) 234-0900. Public comment is welcome and will be accepted until 5 p.m. MST on October 25. Written comments can be mailed or e-mailed to the address below:
