CWD Management in Region for 2022 Hunting Season

Southeast Montana is not a priority sampling area this season, and sampling is voluntary, but hunters interested in having their animal sampled can collect the sample themselves (visit https://fwp.mt.gov/conservation/chronic-wasting-disease) or visit a CWD Sampling Station.

In Region 7, you can visit FWP regional headquarters in Miles City Monday-Friday during office hours, although it is a good idea to call ahead at 406-234-0900.

The CWD Check station at the Hysham rest area along I-94 will operate during the following hours beginning Oct. 22: Friday: 10 am to 2 pm; Saturday: 10 am to dark ; Sunday: 10 am to dark; and Monday 10 am to 2 pm. 

For hunters seeking samples after that, testing will only be available in regional offices. 

Be sure to properly dispose of all carcasses in a Class II landfill.
