Public invited to observe a bird-banding station at Spring Meadow Lake State Park this summer
Jun 15, 2022 9:47 AM
Montana WILD and Spring Meadow Lake State Park are thrilled to be hosting five bird-banding events throughout the summer and would like to offer the public an opportunity to observe the banding station.
The scientists running the station will follow protocols lined out in the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) program. The MAPS program is a continent-wide collaborative effort among public agencies, non-governmental groups, and individuals to assist the conservation of birds and their habitats through bird banding. The banding station will be open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the following dates: June 29, July 8, July 15, July 25 and Aug. 3.
Those interested in dropping by should go to the gazebo on the back field of the Montana WILD education center. No registration is required for this free program.
