Montana WILD announces free December events

HELENA – Montana WILD staff will host free events in December. Registration is required for most of these events. Reserve a spot by calling 406-444-9941 or emailing Jeanne.connolly@mt.gov
 

  • Winter Craft Night: Thursday, Dec. 1, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
    This is a wonderful opportunity for families and community members to gather and create some nature-themed ornaments and decorations for the winter season! Drop by anytime from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and bring family, friends, and a creative holiday spirit. No registration required for this program.
     

  • Family Archery: Monday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 15, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
    Learn the fundamentals of archery using Matthew’s genesis bows. Participants must be 10 or older. No outside equipment. Close toed shoes required! Registration required. Call or email to sign up for one of these programs.
     

  • Wildlife Story Time: Tuesday, Dec. 6, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
    People everywhere are looking forward to the "Annual Christmas Bird Count."  Join us to read stories about the history of this event and then have fun participating in a bird count of your own. This event is geared toward young learners accompanied by their parents. Registration required.
     

  • Animal Track Ornaments: Wednesday, Dec. 14, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
    Learn about animal tracks and make your own animal track ornament out of salt dough. Take one home and leave one to put on Montana WILD's winter tree! Registration required.
     

  • Winter Wildlife Walk: Thursday, Dec. 29, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
    Birds, scat, tracks and fun! Join us for this winter wildlife walk at Spring Meadow to see what winter wildlife signs we can find. This program is great for the whole family. Registration required.

 

Montana Wild is located at 2668 Broadwater Ave., just off U.S. Highway 12 West near Spring Meadow Lake State Park.
