First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park seeks Native American vendors for summer Buffalo Kite Festival and Craft Fair

Apr 5, 2022 3:39 PM

GREAT FALLS – First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park will hold the Buffalo Kite Festival and Craft Fair on July 9 and 10 and invites Native American vendors and artists to participate in the popular annual event.

“We would like artists and vendors from the Native American Community to join us at the park to bring their arts and crafts and share their traditional knowledge and passion with our visitors,” said park ranger Alice Southworth.  “We have 16 booths open this year and would love to see a variety of vendors here to interact with our visitors, share their traditional knowledge and demonstrating hands-on activities.”

SkyWindWorld founder Terry Zee Lee has worked with Native American artists from around the United States to develop buffalo-themed kites and will share the information about the unique art featured on the kites at the festival. Visitors are also invited to create their own kites to fly over the buffalo jump, as well as making traditional Native American game pieces and cattail dolls to take home. Festival hours for the family-friendly event are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days.
