History presentation planned for Frenchtown State Park August 21

FRENCHTOWN– Frenchtown Pond State Park will host a presentation from the Montana Conversations program called “The Métis of Frenchtown” with Chris La Tray on Saturday, August 21st at 4 p.m.
The program will be a discussion of the role that the Métis people of North America played in the exploration and settlement of the Frenchtown Valley. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Chris La Tray is a Métis writer and storyteller. His first book, “One-Sentence Journal: Short Poems and Essays from the World At Large,” won the 2018 Montana Book Award and a 2019 High Plains Book Award. His book, “Becoming Little Shell,” will be published by Milkweed Editions in 2022. Chris is an enrolled member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians and lives near Missoula.
Funding for the Montana Conversations program is provided by Humanities Montana through grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Montana’s Cultural Trust, and private donations.
