Season extensions

The commission is proposing to extend upland gamebird seasons for mountain grouse, pheasant, partridge and sharp-tail grouse to Jan. 31. The current ending date is Jan. 1. The only change to the master list is to propose a Jan. 31 ending date to the mountain grouse, pheasant, partridge, and sharp-tail grouse seasons.

Turkey and mountain grouse

The commission is proposing to allow use of air rifles as legal means of take of mountain grouse and turkeys during the fall season. Air rifles parameters proposed are: 

  • .177 caliber capable of shooting a performance ballistic alloy (PBA) pellet at least 1250 feet per second  

  • .22 caliber capable of shooting a PBA pellet at least 950 feet per second.
