Second Meeting of Sage Grouse Group
Will Take Place Feb 23

The second meeting of the Miles City-area sage grouse local working group will take place Monday, February 23, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm, Miles City Community College, Room 106.

Anyone interested in efforts to conserve sage grouse is encouraged to attend, regardless of whether you attended the first meeting.

As a starting point for discussion among meeting participants, consulting biologist Charlie Eustace and local area biologists will present perspectives on what is known about sage grouse in the Miles City area and surrounding region (which includes the area south to the Wyoming border). All participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge about local sage grouse populations.

The meeting will include a brief recap of the first Miles City-area grouse meeting, which took place January 8. Nearly 40 people from throughout southeastern Montana attended. For a summary of that meeting and other information about the sage grouse effort, please go to the project website: http://www.fwp.state.mt.us/wildthings/sagegrouse/groups.asp.

Miles City, Glasgow, and Dillon are the first three Montana communities to establish local working groups to implement the Montana Sage Grouse Management Plan. This plan was developed by livestock producers, sportsmen, biologists, and many other interested parties. It provides a toolbox of possible actions that local groups can take to achieve the goals of maintaining or increasing sage grouse populations and habitat.
