In mountain lion country, almost anywhere in Montana with deer or elk, there's no way to completely guarantee safety from a mountain lion attack. However, we can significantly reduce the chance of a lion incident by becoming knowledgeable of lion habits and behavior.

• Do Not Hike Alone—Go in groups, with adults supervising children.
