Special Recreation Permit Program

On March 10, 2005, the Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission adopted administrative rules requiring a Special Recreation Permit to conduct commercial use, competitive events, and organized group activities on the Blackfoot River and lands adjacent to the river that are owned or managed by the department. The permit system is now in place and applications and general information can be obtained by contacting:

Recreation on the Blackfoot River is managed cooperatively by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Both agencies have Special Recreation Permit (SRP) systems.

Commercial SRP Permit Stipulations

This document explains the terms and conditions that apply to all Restricted Use Permits authorizing commercial use on the following restricted use rivers: Alberton Gorge (Clark Fork), Beaverhead, Big Hole, Blackfoot, Madison and Smith.
