Blackfoot River Recreation Planning

The Blackfoot River continues to be one of Montana's most popular rivers for a variety of recreational opportunities including fishing, camping, swimming, rafting and relaxing. Developed with assistance from federal and local agency representatives and members of a citizen advisory committee, the Blackfoot River Recreation Management Plan will play an important role in protecting the Blackfoot's outstanding resources and in ensuring that the quality of the recreational experience remains high. The department issued a Decision Notice on this plan in March 2010.


RRAFT Advisory Committee

FWP appointed an advisory committee to assist with the planning process. The committee, called the River Recreation Advisory for Tomorrow (RRAFT) committee, included members of the recreating public, outfitters, and landowners. Representatives from federal and local government and FWP were involved to assist and support the committee. The committee developed recommendations on various management issues and presented its work to the FWP Parks Division.
