Motorboat Project Selection Process

Project applications will be scored and ranked by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and reviewed by the Boating Advisory Committee. Successful applicants will be notified that their projects have made the short list. Final approval for all projects and allocation of funding rests with FWP. Upon final approval, FWP will provide the grant recipient a Project Agreement, which must be signed by an authorized official and returned to FWP. Following is a list of the criteria used to rank applications.

Criterion Score
1. Description of the degree to which the project provides for the greatest number of compatible recreational motorboating purposes. 0 -10
2. Does the application demonstrate clear user demand and need for the project? Proof would include letters of support from user organizations and/or individuals familiar with the site. 0 -10
3. Does the application fully describe the project; including the proposed budget, sketches, and details? 0 -10
4. Quality of application. The application was received prior to the deadlines, all parts of the application are included, the project description is clear, project cost information is detailed, noxious weed plan is complete, the application is formatted as described in Guidelines and seven (7) copies were provided. 0-5
5. Does the application describe a reasonable degree of commitment on the part of the applicant to operate and maintain the project after the grant money has been expended on the project? 0-10
6. Does the application provide information regarding the percentage of matching funds or in-kind services being provided by the applicant for the project? 0-10
7. Will the project provide facilities or access to the motorboating public not otherwise available in the local area? 0-10
8. Does the project provide ADA accessible facilities, boating safety education, or special services that can be deemed beneficial to the boating public? 0-10
