Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Local Community Grants

IMPORTANT NEWS! No LWCF Grant Applications in 2008!

Because it is still uncertain if the U.S. Congress will appropriate money to stateside LWCF in 2008, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will not ask local communities to prepare LWCF grant applications this year. The next deadline for local community Land and Water Conservation Fund grant applications will be February 2009. The exact date will be announced next summer. Should Montana receive a 2008 stateside LWCF apportionment, funds would be invested in the legislatively approved Access Montana Program, which seeks new state park and fishing access site land acquisitions to benefit local communities in need of such facilities.

For your convenience, LWCF rules, guidelines, and application materials will remain posted online for communities wishing to get a head start in preparing for 2009. Keep in mind, however, that 2009 LWCF applications must be submitted on the proper forms and in the required format. These new materials will be posted next summer.

Call us in Helena at (406) 444-3750 for more information. Thank you for your continued interest in the LWCF program.
