Backcountry Camping
Nothing says Montana like a backcountry camping experience. Please practice Leave No Trace principles, Be Bear Aware, and familiarize yourself with the following required permits:
- Sluice Boxes State Park -A Backcountry Campsite Permit is required to camp in Sluice Boxes State Park. Check with Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff in the Great Falls office at (406) 454-5840 when planning your trip. [Learn more]
- State Trust Land Overnight Horseback Use -A Special Recreational Use License, available only from Department of Natural
Resources and Conservation
offices, is required for an overnight stay with horses on State
Trust Land.
