Echo Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). This proposed rule will eliminate the no wake speed in the upper three islands in the southwest courner of section 5, approximately 1/4 mile southeast of the entrance of Blackies Bay and the narrow corridors that serve as the entrances to Blackies Bay and Causeway Bay

Swan Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). The proposed rule would extend the no wake zone from the northern outlet of Swan Lake approximately 3/4 of a mile south to the southern tip of the souther most island or as buoyed.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the purpose of developing the Lower Flathead River Fishing Access Site (FAS) using funds from fishing license dollars. The site is approximately five miles SE of Paradise, Montana, in Sanders County. A copy of the decision document is attached, with Alternative B – to develop the Lower Flathead River FAS – being the preferred alternative. There were no changes to the draft EA; therefore, the draft becomes the final EA, available at FWP, Region One, 490 N. Meridian Road, Kalispell, MT 59901. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is requesting public comment on the proposed take of peregrine falcons for falconry purposes in 2008 as adopted as Tentative by the FWP Commission at their January 18 meeting. The proposed regulation would provide for the take of up to 3 peregrines by licensed Montana falconers through a drawing process. More specific information relative to period of take, area of take, nest locations where take will be prohibited, and specific banding and reporting requirements are listed in the Tentative regulation that is attached for your review. In addition, the Final Environmental Assessment for The Take of Peregrine Falcons for Falconry Purposes was signed by FWP Director Jeff Hagener on January 16, 2008. That document is available for review on the FWP website and comment provided during the EA process and a subsequent stakeholders meeting, was used to develop the Tentative regulation. The attached Environmental Assessment (EA) is submitted for your consideration. It was prepared for the proposed chemical treatment of private ponds along Randall Creek in Gallatin County as part of an effort to eradicate a self-sustaining population of northern pike in the ponds and intervening streams and ditches. This treatment will target northern pike, which pose a potential threat to wild trout and native game and non-game fish in the upper Missouri drainage. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks issued a Decision Notice to direct federal funding toward the purchase of a conservation easement on approximately 7,839 acres of contiguous properties currently owned by the Sunny Slope Grazing Association, Susan and Gerald Biresch, and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Lewis and Clark County. Five Valleys Land Trust would hold the easement. The Decision Notice came at the end of a 30-day public comment period. FWP will request approval for the purchase of the easement at the Commission meeting scheduled for Jan. 17 at the FWP headquarters in Helena.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks issued a Decision Notice to sell approximately half an acre to to landowners of inholdings within its Stuart Mill Bay Fishing Access Site (FAS). The sale will resolve encroachments on FWP land in a manner that does not affect public use or recreational or habitat values of the FAS. The Decision Notice was issued at the end of public comment period.
