Environmental Assessment
July 01, 2009
The attached Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for an existing Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Big Hole River. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) proposes to implement several site improvements to Salmon Fly Fishing Access Site (FAS). Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks proposes to improve key elements of Salmon Fly to reduce impacts to the stream and stream bank from heavy use. FWP proposes to replace two pioneered boat ramps with a single, doublewide concrete ramp and stabilize and re-vegetate the stream bank along the remaining pioneered area. If funds are available, FWP also proposes to improve the existing gravel parking lot, install barriers and/or fencing to protect and stabilize the stream bank, and replace fire rings and picnic tables as necessary. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks invites you to comment on the attached proposal. If requested, FWP will schedule and conduct a public meeting on this proposed project. Public comment will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2009. Comments should be sent to the following: Salmon Fly FAS EA Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks 1400 South 19th Avenue Bozeman MT 59718-5496 Or emailed to: tgarrett@mt.gov.

Decision Notice
June 29, 2009
Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the rehabilitation of Upper and Lower Blossom Lakes and Blossom Creek to a native fish community by removing nonnative brook trout through piscicide application and subsequent restocking with native westslope cutthroat trout. These waters are located approximately 25 miles west of Thompson Falls, Sanders County, Montana. Based on analysis of the EA and public comment received during the 30-day public review, FWP will proceed with the restoration project. The draft EA together with the decision notice, which addresses comments submitted during the public comment period, will become the final document for this proposal. A copy of the final EA and decision notice are attached. Contact person: Region One Fisheries Biologist Chris Horn, (406) 827-9282 or e-mail to chorn@blackfoot.net.
