Rosebud Battlefield State Park Management Plan

Edge of Buffalo Jump
Edge of Buffalo Jump

The public has joined with Fish, Wildlife & Parks to determine best management practices for Rosebud Battlefield State Park. A fourteen-member advisory committee and consultants Peaks to Plains Design digested input from focus groups, town hall meetings, and written comments to outline goals for the future. The plan stresses the importance of education, interpretation and resource protection. It also addresses visitor services and access, finding options to mineral development, and collaborative efforts with neighbors, tribes, historians and tourism groups.

The final management plan was approved by FWP Director Jeff Hagener in May 2008 and was announced in this press release. The decision notice, plan and accompanying documents can be downloaded below. If you prefer a paper copy, please call the Miles City FWP office at (406) 234-0900 or e-mail us.
