Parks Management

Greetings,

Montana state parks staff have the privilege and challenge of managing some of the state's most significant natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the benefit of citizens and their guests.

Fish, Wildlife & Parks employees are committed to operating and maintaining an excellent park system for tomorrow’s generations as well as today’s. Staff continue to rely on key values which shape how we do business. These include:

  • providing high–quality visitor services;
  • assuring the safety and security of visitors and staff;
  • involving the public in key decisions;
  • behaving with honesty, fairness, accountability, and integrity;
  • remaining dedicated to excellent resource protection, enhancement, and maintenance programs;
  • promoting youth in the outdoors and participating in resource education and interpretation; and
  • valuing healthy Montana families, communities, and a sustainable economy.

Visitation at state parks has increased for four of the last five years. Surveys show customer satisfaction continues to be around 95%.

This is a time of change and growth in the Montana state park system. We are offering new services to enhance visitor experiences; two new visitor centers are under construction, and we are acqiring new land through a program called Access Montana. We are excited to improve the park system and hope you will experience your parks first-hand.
