Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking comment on proposed commercial fishing regulations on two waters near Helena for the harvest of carp. The proposed regulations for Lake Helena and Canyon Ferry Reservoir will specify the times and areas where carp can be harvested and the process for reporting commercial operations to FWP prior to and after fishing. These regulations will apply to a single operator who will be allowed to harvest carp for five years, 2016-2020. The Montana Fish & Wildlife Commission is authorized to approve one commercial fishing operation for each body of water and to set the regulations. One individual has applied for the 2016-2020 commercial fishing permit to harvest carp from Canyon Ferry Reservoir and Lake Helena. Public comment will be accepted through January 21, 2016.
