02/22/2007

Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Region 1, has written a draft environmental assessment (EA) for the Mount Silcox Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Grazing Project (R29W, T21N, Sanders County). The proposed action will allow cattle to graze on the WMA. The duration of the plan will be six years. Benefits include an increase in quality of WMA grass produced. Wintering deer, elk, and bighorn sheep will benefit from the improved quality of vegetation. The draft environmental assessment is out for public review through 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007. Please contact FWP Wildlife Biologist Bruce Sterling, (406) 827-4389 or e-mail to bsterling@mt.gov, with questions or comments.
