Environmental Assessment Willow Creek Fish Passage Enhancement Project

Development, Improvements, and Enhancements

Sun Jan 29 22:04:00 MST 2012

The Future Fisheries Improvement Program is proposing to provide partial funding to a project calling for the replacement of an undersized and perched culvert located at a private stream crossing on Willow Creek with a bridge. Willow Creek is a tributary to the Blackfoot River. The intent of the project is to improve upstream fish passage to approximately 3.5 miles of Willow Creek for a non-hybridized population of westslope cutthroat trout, as well as for populations of brown trout and brook trout. The project also will create a more stable stream crossing, reducing sediment delivery to the stream. The project site is located on property owned by Jerry and Susan Biresch approximately 2.5 miles southwest of the town of Lincoln in Lewis and Clark County.
