06/25/2009

Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, is seeking public comment for a proposal to buy about 70 acres of land on the North Shore of Flathead Lake, Flathead County, Montana, for the purpose of fish and wildlife habitat conservation. The project would cost about $1 million and would be funded by the Bonneville Power Administration to help mitigate harm to resident fish caused by construction and subsequent habitat loss associated with Hungry Horse Dam. A copy of the draft environmental assessment is attached for your review. The draft is out for a 3-week public review, with comments being accepted through July 17, 2009. Comments can be sent to: North Shore-Bigfork Parcel EA, 490 North Meridian Road, Kalispell, MT 59901, or contact Joel Tohtz, (406) 751-4570, e-mail - jtohtz@mt.gov, or Kris Tempel, (406) 751-4573, e-mail - ktempel@mt.gov.
