Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) seeks public review of its proposal to purchase the 27,616-acre Spotted Dog property in a portion of Powell County, Montana, located northeast of Deer Lodge and south of Avon. The purpose of this proposal is to protect important wildlife habitat and provide seasonal public access. A draft environmental assessment, management plan and socio-economic assessment have been prepared for this proposal. These review documents may be obtained by downloading the file below or by phoning 406-542-5500 or emailing fwprg22@mt.gov. FWP will hold a public hearing in Deer Lodge on July 14 (Wednesday) at 7:00 p.m. at the Deer Lodge Community Center (Cottonwood Street, north of the County Courthouse). Comments should be directed by mail to the FWP address above or by email to spotteddog@mt.gov . Comments must be received by FWP no later than 5 p.m. on July 30, 2010.
