Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks proposes to stock black and white crappie in a reconstructed reservoir north of Winnett, Montana on Dry Blood Creek known as Dry Blood Reservoir. This reservoir is on BLM lands and has legal public access. Historically it was about 10 surface acres with a maximum depth of 19ft. It has consistently leaked in recent years. It has supported a largemouth bass fishery for many years with occasional winterkill. In 2008/2009 the dam was rebuilt with higher fill so winterkill events may be less frequent. No comments were received since posting of the Environmental Assessment last spring. Based on the EA, benefits and risks associated with this project, it is my decision that there would be no significant impacts on the human and physical environments associated with this project. Therefore an environmental impact statement is not required. It is my decision to proceed with the proposed action to stock black and white crappie in Dry Blood Reservoir. The draft EA together with this decision notice will serve as the final documents for this proposal.
